SPAG
To the left there is a link which opens a PDF file in a new window which gives a brief run through of what is needed to be performed each month in the Vegetable garden. A new page has just been added which shows a gallery of pictures showing the allotment throughout the year. spag picture gallery

About SPAG SPAG has been
set up due to the work of SPIVS and the kind offer of some land by
Mr. Ian Trehane.
The aim is to offer Parishioners a plot of land for
which to grow their own produce whilst promoting a
green, environmentally friendly way to garden. The
emphasis is also to hopefully encourage the Youth of the
Parish to take an interest in gardening and with that in
mind an area for children is planned.

The association rules and constitution can be found under spag links at the top left. Also added to the this section is a few links to other gardening sites that may be of help in running your allotment.
The SPAG plots down at Linnick Farm have been transformed since 2009 when work on the site began. Grant funding has enabled huge projects to take place, such as the water drainage system into the new wildlife pond and the ongoing irrigation system. The latter project will pump water from a nearby stream into a large holding tank and across the plots by way of plastic pipes and collection trays. This will cater for prolonged wet weather and drought, conditions that have both been experienced on the site. Thankfully, monies were received before the recent economic cutbacks! The assistance of the former SPIVS group provided vital inspiration for these projects and help with grant funding paperwork. SPAG have also benefited enormously from their generous donation of equipment in the spring, when the group closed. Cornwall County Council also helped to fund a large shredder that will help produce good compost for communal use. Enthusiasm for social events has waned slightly (particularly due to the wet summers) but some events are still planned for this year. Other fund raising events have taken place over the last couple of years including table top sales, BBQs and harvest suppers. A number of plots have produced fantastic crops and the site has thrived from the brilliant support of Ian and Kathryn Trehane and the assistance of members who cut the communal grass and keep everything running smoothly. Not forgetting the composting toilet that is still doing its job, so to speak! With good soil and a southerly aspect (despite the wind), it is hoped that great crops will be grown at Linnick for many years to come – but it all depends on hard work and commitment of plot holders.
Please note that if you are interested in obtaining a plot, there is usually only a short waiting list – contact David Thomas for details.
We also require OLD CARPET (not foam backed) to cover soil that is currently out of use. Please let a member of committee know if you have anything to spare!
